Do you have anymore translucent sticks?  and if so, are they 8 way?

That's great news ponyboy!

I think red will be color no.1 for sure, but seeing the other replies here I think it's hard to come up with color no.2... Maybe a poll will help?

When it comes to jap stuff I really like the off colors like bright green and pink myself as it seems to be the popular choice on the candy cabs and actual CP's.

Red & Black will move well.  The rest are kind of "Sanwa colors" that match best to their buttons.

I really like the off colors on these as well.

Black and Red will move quickly, but I'd love to see some pink and white.  Green and Blue would be nice as well.

30's should fit right in the typical "happ" size button hole right?

If so I'm holding off buying buttons until they show up (please get some pastels so we can have something a bit differnt).

I think if you have the matching sticks the  "funny" color buttons will be more popular than most would think. The "kids" with their console joysticks and candy cabs would probably be more into that too.

Happ buttons are 28mm.  The 30mm buttons might fit with a squeeze, or at worst a simple mod.

I'll take that "kids" remark as a compliment.  I'm doing my best to hold on to my youth as long as possible (much to the wife's dismay).

But you are right - the pink/green sticks will be very popular with the Candy crowd.   I'm sure the word will spread on shmups.com, shoryuken.com, neo-geo.com, atomiswave.org, etc soon enough.

shoryuken.com has a couple established sellers of sanwa parts.  Although i don't think they'd mind another.  On topic, about colers, grab as many different ones as oyou can.  There will always be SOMEONE who wants that one odd-ball color, it never fails.  Anyway, my 2 yen, for what its worth.   Its always nice to see another sanwa parts seller, another reason why japan rocks. (but we already knew this)

Himuragames are the only ones I've seen advertise there.  And while he's a top bloke, his pricing is little scary at times, especially for us foreigners.

umm.. I know next to nothing about Sanwa other that what I found doing a quick google search.. ( http://www.himuragames.com/store_joysticks.php  )  are these superior to Happs as far as feel and construction or is it just a matter of preference?  I've never used any of their joysticks or buttons AFAIK but I do like some of the colors.   The restrictor plates on these are 8-way and they don't rotate right?  sorry for the noob questions  ;D

im in the other boat. ive only USED sanwa! i can say that they are really top quality in build and quite inexpensive. they use standard micro-switches and the restrictor plate can be rotated from 8 way to 4 way, but only by loosening 4 screws underneath. i have them in my cocktail cab which has the cp's open underneath so sometimes when i wanted to play pacman properly id get underneath and rotate it. takes maybe 2 minutes. i have a plan in my mind to have servos do it for me (this will compliment my rotating monitor  :))

I'd say PINK and GREEN would be the most popular among candy cabinet owners but probably not as popular among every one else.  The next most popular colors would be RED, WHITE, YELLOW, ORANGE, and BLUE.  BLACK will be a semi popular color for the ball tops as well.  If you stock these you should consider stocking the GT-Y Octagonal restrictor plates.

Definitely red and dark blue (The light blue doesn't look very good IMHO). And translucent in a variety of colours including clear.

It would also be nice if you could sell the ball tops separately for people who cannot make up their mind which colour they prefer.

I don't know the thread size. But I do know that most of the Japanese style joysticks (including Seimitsu and Sanwa) have ball tops that are interchangeable.

Can you tell me where you bought the Sega analogue sticks?

I have some of the Dark Blue buttons and ball top.  They look good but they are really more of a Violet/Dark Purple color than they are blue.

Oh yeah and I bet people would be interested in some of those mesh styled red and green ball tops.  I know they stoped making them but if you could get some I bet people would want them.

Sanwa sticks and buttons feel totally different to Happ gear.  The sticks have VERY loose springs, which throws some people when they first play it.  After you play fighters or shmups on Japanese sticks for a while, you start to understand why they are designed that way.  For me, I have trouble going back to Happ sticks now for my fighters after having used predominantly Asian-style gear for the last 12 months.

If you ever find an arcade with a some "Candy" cabs in it, have a play on one of the machines and see for yourself the difference.  There are some older games that just suck with these sticks (I still like my Happ sticks for older 80's games), but anything released in the last 5 years or so feels great.

Each to their own really.  Stick preference is something that differs wildly from person to person.

I personally like the ORANGE color the best.  I thought it was odd that Ponyboy didn't have that listed on his post in the buy/sell/trade but when I PMed him about it he said he has some.  I always thought orange was one of the more popular colors at least that's what some of the stick-builders I know have said as of late.  I also ordered a RED and YELLOW set of parts.

Oh and if you haven't checked out Ponyboy's selling thread, you should his prices are unbeatable...
