$2 Bezel Bowing...

Hi Guys,

I've created a bezel out of cardboard in much the same way as TailGunners tutorial.

What I'm finding is the cardboard is bowing in the center of the uprights, causing it

I can't really offer any advice.. except maybe you could have used thicker paper?

I do have a question for you though...  Is that a TV behind the bezel?  If so.. how did you attach the bezel?  Thanks!

How about a little dab of hot glue wherever it bows.
Worked for me! Once I put the tinted glass over the top it looked perfect.

DreamWeb, the bezel is attached in no way to the cabinet or the TV (sony trinitron 68 cm)

It is jammed in place as each side has an additional lip that follows back into the inside of the cabinet, ill post up  some pics soon, im spray painting it chrome so i will have pics then.

Unfortunately, I see that kind of bowing even with commercial arcade bezels. Not much you can do. Helps to paint it all black and use some tinted glass to hide it.

I had a similar problem with my smoked plexiglas bowing in the middle. All you gotta do is take a thin strip of wood and attach it to the upper part of the cabinet in the middle and it'll keep it from bending. I used screws because it was quicker and I didn't need to hold it in place for long.

Should be a quick and easy fix.

I'd glue a cardboard stiffener to the backside of the bezel in the effected sections. The pic shows a cross section of how I'd shape it. Grey is the monitor, black is the bezel, red is the stiffener.
