Problem would be maintenance of the page. I know when I was looking into redoing the people finder tool that was a hindering factor. They would want the tool to be on their host and I dont believe they'd let anybody in to update the list.

Ponyboy is frikkin' amazing. Sent $450 worth of parts to me with an invoice. That's a lot of trust to give to someone that's only been registered for a couple-a weeks. (I guess I'm just used to eBay, where the going attitude is "pay first, get shipped later." You've gotta love the fact that a handshake is still a deal with some people.

Peale sent wiring kit LIGHTNING fast. I need to order another kit soon, I think. Waaaaaay convenient. Cheaper and better than the local electronics store.

I've mentioned it here before, but I think it needs to be said in this thread again.

WE SHOULD ALL START TO USE HEATWARE.COM FOR REFERENCES.

This thread is great, and the ideas for a standard way to see who's good/bad are admirable... but heatware does it for you already.

I know we can't make it a "rule" but if we could suggest that everyone in B/S/T make a heatware account, it sure would make things easier.

- It's free
- It standardizes everything
- You can see if the person was the buyer or seller, how many transactions they've made, and if they got a positive, negative, or neutral.
- You get a brief description of every transaction.
- You can backdate references, so if people were willing, you could even go through this thread and make evals for all past deals... and you'd only have to be concerned with the people you dealt with yourself.

Its just an idea, but while selling stuff here recently, I certainly know I'd like a better way to check references or give comments. Looking through this thread is getting very hard.

and no, I don't own/work for/have a stake in Heatware

I just hate to see a good way to do this go to waste

I know that. I just think it's silly to go through that trouble when a third party site has it ready to go already.

Plus, with heatware, you can span any forums that you happen to sell/buy on... thus it's a lot more meaningful IMHO than a few refererences from individual boards

pointdablame has it right. It would be far more meaningful here and on other boards as a form of refference. You get to see the good, the bad, and the ugly comments. This thread is limited by definition to only good comments and experiences.

If people are actually signing up, remember that you can back-date transactions. We've all had some good deals here already, we might as well let other people know.
