Laptop salvage

Hey guys, I was wondering what you thought.  My old Dell Inspiron 8100 laptop just died.  The motherboard is shot, and would cost me more to fix it than to buy a new one.  Being an addicted cabinet builder, what do you think I can use the laptop parts for?  I was mainly thinking of the 12" screen, is there a way to hook it up to regular video card and PC?  What about the other parts, like the keyboard and touchpad?  Any uses out of them, or should I just sell the whole thing as is on Ebay and get $20 buck for it?  Any ideas would be great, thanks.

The 8100 uses the same motherboard as a c810.

75+ shipping for repair.

Interesting...Thanks for the link, but the question now becomes whether I want to sink $75 into a P3 laptop, or use it to invest in a brand new P4 that will cost me around $400 or so.  Decisions, Decisions...

How space is on the hard drive? Laptop drives are commonly used in "quiet PCs" (for jukeboxes, set-top PCs, etc) since they're small and make very little sound compared to their larger 3.5" counterparts.

Hrm... I'd never thought of that quiet PC concept... good to know.  I wonder how much quieter that would make a Tivo.
