Heres a review/comparison of the Ozstick and the hotrod from someone in the UK. http://www.btinternet.com/~ardmaddy/joystick/
He mentioned in his review that the exchange rate from the UK to Australia was quite attractive and the cost of shipping wasn't bad.
Oz stick makes single player sticks that are more econmically priced (cheaper).
Good review! Couple of comments on the review and both products.
I quoted the cheaper OzStick single player sticks. For the OzStick, the Single uses the gameport and sells for $99 AUD. The super single uses a gamepad USB interface and sells for $149 AUD. The twin uses the game port and sells for $159 AUD. The Ultimate uses the I-PAC (
www.ultimarc.com), which is excellent, and sells for $260 AUD.
I could've sworn the HotRod was programmable (though not by software), but from reading their site it doesn't appear to be. That would bother me.
The HotRod uses Happ Super joysticks, the OzStick does not use Happ joysticks. I agree with Chris W's recommendations of the Happ horizontal microswitches, but I don't think the HotRod uses Ultimates. I thought the Ultimate was a vertical switch and the pictures sure look like horizontal switches on the HotRod. Probably just different construction making the buttons sound different, but I couldn't say for sure.
Either one would be a good choice.
