One thing I've noticed with memory is you definately get what you pay for. The cheap generic/house brand memory has given me nothing but grief in the past. You might notice a lot of problems with rebooting or no POST, degraded system performace, and even OS corruption using the cheap stuff. Now I use strictly Mushkin, Corsair, or Micron memory. Usually it's a few more bucks but will save you pain, suffering, and an RMA or 2 in the long run.
In the end though if all you can afford is the generic then go for it. If it makes the difference of getting your cab up and running, it might be worth the possible trouble to you. YMMV though
