UK sub forum?
« on: May 11, 2005, 06:27:44 pm »
I am wondering if you could set up a sub forum for UK based BYOAC's (probably under everything else).

There seems to be a few of us brits around these days.

Whilst it is great to correspond with our US cousins (and members of other countries) in the main forums, i think we could benefit with a subforum for UK only related posts as they seem to get buried within the main forums.

maybe could have regional sub forums for australasia and europe also?

must stress that only for regional only related posts!

just an idea!

This would help the Americans too.  We would know which posts to add funny accents to while we read.

I want a forum of my own so I can talk to myself without seeming weird.

We could populate it with parenting tips, car repair tips (i.e. how many blocks to put it up on, car seats - front porch vs back porch), fewest number of times to mow the yard and still avoid having the neighbors call the city....stuff those Brits or sheep lovers could care less about ;D

Don't forget, SirP can give us computer tips too, like what gauge extension cord to run to the outhouse for our laptops so we can "multi-task"

It won't have as many posts as some, but it'll prolly turn into the most viewed sub-forum...as in....lookit what they said, you won't believe it, you just GOTTA look!

Hair spray, compressed air, acetone ;) what's your "shooter"?  I'd like to see that put in project announcements! ;D

Good old Aerostart and a BBQ electronic lighter work a treat!

Just watch the backfires when you jam a lemon in there too tight, I can confirm this does leave a nasty burn. The funny part was I think the burn healed up before the lemon returned to Earth from orbit.

At this point, I would prefer not to create geographic-specific sub-forums. You could create UK specific threads with a [UK] preface if you liked.

lol.  Then we'd know how to spell "correctly" too:
What colour is the sky?  What's your favorite ice cream flavour?

Whenever I try to do a British accent, it always ends up sounding like a pirate.

rchadd, I'm surprised such a forum outside of byoac does not already exist. Here in Canada we have a few local forums. I imagine if someone were to start one in the UK it would be quite popular.

If you build it they will come. There is lots of opensource software available. For local forums I would suggest making the topics a bit more wide spread. Like a forum for console collectors and one for pinball etc.
97.4 percent of all statistics are full of crap.

I suggest the naming convetion that Saint pointed out here http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=36709.msg326630#msg326630

It is readily identifiable and searchable

That is one of our southern constituents, and as such not a true representative of the United States. Please ignore - only duly authorized representatives from North of the Mason-Dixon line are approved for global communication.

Example - our current president is from the south, and is a moron. (Note the correct spelling)...

At the risk of getting political and/or off-topic, he was born in Connecticut and went to school in the Northeast.  He's all yours, pal.  Real Texans don't abide carpetbaggers.  ;)

Has a ranch in Texas, has a southern accent, and is a moron. The north disowned him a long time ago...
