Why doesn't ZSNES recognize buttons 18-23 on my GP-wiz49?
« on: June 22, 2005, 07:59:27 pm »
All other emulators (Mame, GensFE, FCEUltra, etc) recognize these buttons when pushed, but ZSNES doesn't even acknowledge them (neither does GeneRally game).  But both ZSNES and GeneRally recognize buttons 9-14.  This happens on both of my GP-Wiz49's.  What am I missing here?

The emulator itself probably wasn't coded to recognize a joystick with that many buttons.

What about buttons 15-17?  (I am assuming some of the emulators recognize them and some don't?)

No, there's 12 buttons per pad for snes.  Of course 4 are taken care of with the 49way in 8way mode.   but then if you wanted two player with one encoder...

I don't have any buttons wired up to 15-17 but I'll do some rearranging this afternoon and report the results.  I hadn't been using buttons 1-8 on the gp-wiz so it sounds like I'll end up moving my main buttons down there.
That may give you problems on the mode switching, depending on how you are accomplishing that.

For manual switching, the GP-Wiz49's are actually designed for the main buttons to be 1-8.  If the rotary switch mode was being used, the buttons re-number past the first eight inputs(ie. shift up)

Long way of saying, that there's pretty much no way using the first eight buttons would conflict with anything :)

Update: ZSNES and GeneRally both recognized joystick buttons 1-16, but nothing higher than that.
