Pacman Speed Up chips

how much does it speed up pacman? is there a significant difference?

does it make the for better game play?

I think it makes it more challenging for expert players. The reason these chips appeared was that people got so good at the game, they memorized patterns and could play for hours on a quarter (which means the game owner is losing money).

I prefer regular speed.  The speed up makes the pacman go about twice as fast.  There is no problem getting all the blue ghosts, even if one is on the opposite side of the maze.  It takes a bit of fun out of it for me.  I can certainly get farther on a speeded up game vs regular.  Just my opinion.

2 versions I've seen. 1 all characters moves fast. 2 only pacman moves fast.

Usually if it speeds up everything it's a board mod and not the chip.  No reason it couldn't be a chip, but I've never seen it.   

There is a speedup chip for pacman that doesn't mess up the attract mode and intermissions if you look around.
