I think the buy\sell board should be restricted

Sorry, that granularity isn't there. Otherwise, I would have enabled it in that fashion.

I joined a forum where you HAD to register to post on the forums, and after registering for the forum, your membership wouldn't allow you to post for a period of one week after acceptance of your registrations.  I see NO spam posts EVER on that forum, and the people who are there USUALLY spend the week's time reading up, so they've got far more information to use and generally post something along the lines of "I tried _____ after reading the board and waiting to be able to post, and that worked, but I'm having this issue with this....here's what I've done to get to this point, any ideas on what to try next?"

I'm not advocating the week-long waiting period, but I can testify to the effectiveness of it in fighting board spam, and it's an example to show you guys that this waiting period is FAR from draconian.

I've been researching building my arcade cabinet for about a year and a half.  After so much time under "analysis paralysis" I decided to register as a user so I could post a PM to a respected member to make my first purchase toward arcade heaven.  Since I didn't get any response, I figured maybe I sould reply to the normal thread, but as evidenced here, measures were put in place to prevent me from doing so.  I actually have plans for two cabinets.  One is a strategy I haven't seen yet, so I had plans to post w/ pic on the Project Announcements page to lead everyone through it.
Unfortunately, since I can't post to the Buy / Sell board, I'll have to buy my parts elsewhere, which everyone here knows is much more expensive.  So as time passes and I try to save up the extra cash while somehow justifying the increased expense to my significant other, I'll hope another anti-spam implementation is put in place.

You've become interested in doing this through "research" for "about a year and a half" and your SECOND act upon becoming a member here is to post in the B/S/T since you're looking to BUY something and your PM query has gone unanswered.....and you can't figure out a way around this? 


Obviously your post was meant to foster "woe is me, perhaps we've erred too harshly on the side of avoidance" feelings, but your tale of excessive expenditures that will cause you all kinds of anguish don't wash.  For someone who's done so many months of research on this, it seems highly implausible that you can't be troubled to post a comment, ask a few questions, give words of help to some who may not have your expertise in certain areas - something that contributes to the community and even further strengthens your "research".  I call BS, and add that perhaps the "process" is doing a better job of screening than originally intended ::)

I HAVE A POLE POSITION CAB THAT I CAN GET FOR FREE AND I CAN'T POST IN BST!  This rule is pretty annoying.  If anybody would like a free pole position Cab, no monitor.  PLEASE PM ME!
