I think the buy\sell board should be restricted

The posting limit is not prohibitively high. I am not against any of the user scenarios for posting IN the forum. We're just trying to catch the casual abuser or automated system.

Damfino:
Just what IS the required number of posts to be able to post in buy/sell/trade?

Like others, I registered to order some stuff from Ponyboy, and would have liked the ability to post something in the main thread as it appears that some of my PMs never made it (he never got my original order, for example, and hasn't responded to two follow-up ones. Since everyone has good things to say about him, I doubt it's just that he's ignoring me.)

It would be very helpful to have something on the BST page that says "you need X number of posts to be able to post here." Or at least, put a mention in the FAQ and/or one of the stickies in the main forum. The forum rules for BST should mention it, too.

Like others, I'm just getting started building my first cabinet (after thinking about it for years) so I don't have a lot to post at this point, to get my count up.

The other option is to get some of the big sellers in BST their own online store, then lurkers like me can keep lurking until we've got something worthwhile to contribute. :D

It's great that the spam is gone, but now we get a constant flow "why can't I post there"  questions.  Here's my solution.  We add a minimum post number to all forums and sub forums.  Yep that would do it.

Enter sarcasm, nice to meet you. And imposing a limit to all boards would allow the members to hit the minimum how?

Perhaps I need to enhance the description of the B/S/T board.

AlanS17:
Maybe there's a way to require a minimum to start a thread but not to reply to threads? That would allow people to make requests for already-posted items.

As for someone joining just to post an item for sale, if they got refered then that refering person can help them out. If they're interested in being a contributing member of the board, though, let them work on their own post count.

On another note, I don't know what the minimum is now, but I think a minimum of 5 is enough to keep out automated systems and pyramid schemers.
