Jabba:

Ya, I have a dog too. 11 year old lab. In fact, he's laying beside me now, takin' a rest (actually, sometimes I think he's a piece of furniture around here). He never barks. Why? Because we TRAINED him. Do we leave him outside during the weekend while we're away? No, we take him with us, or we leave him somewhere where he will be looked afrer.

You're right, there are those who are considertate of others, and those who are not. What are you to do?

I actually staked out my new place for a month making sure it was a good neighborhood, and that the people next door did not have a problem looking after a dog.

But Mr. C, if that keeps happening to you, I WOULD make their life a living hell. Maybe hammeing something every night on the wall that separates the two apartments. Or Maybe leaving your MAME cab on REAL loud while you're away. I bet Space Invaders would grate on someone after a long while.....

You are a "Dog Enthusiast" then..."Dog People" still suck.  :)

I can go with that.

But as for your problem I have another suggestion in tune with Jabba.  I used to make sound cue for plays when I was in college.  One time I was editing a wav of an old phone ring with my door open.  My dad came in crazy and looked like me like I peed in soup.  Get an old phone sound and blast it ringing when you leave the house.  They will go crazy.

Crazy Cooter:

Bring that CD to the landlord and give him a written letter.  Document the whole thing.  You should have some government office that deals with renters rights.  Call them and see what the deal is about getting out of your lease.  Give your landlord whatever info they give you and he'll have to make a decision about who he wants to stay.  The chicks with a wacked out dog, or you.  His only other choice is to make sure they do something to correct the issue.

I had animal control called on my dogs when I lived in a duplex.  Animal control will come over and see if the dog is barking.  If it is for longer than say ~5 minutes, then a ticket is issued.  It was funny when animal control came out the third time.  My dogs didn't bark, the neighbors dogs did.  I came home from work and filed a complaint on them.  They got a ticket for barking, no licenses and for having too many animals. :P

If you do anything to the dog, you'll go to jail (as anyone should).  Follow "the rules" and the problem will be solved in the next week.  No jailtime necessary. ;)

JODY:

How much space is under the door?  Slip is some ham.
