Area 51 and the USB Act-Labs light gun.
« on: November 21, 2002, 05:55:00 pm »
I can play Area 51 with my Act-Labs gun, but whenever I shoot off of the screen to reload, it doesn't reload.  Has anyone else had this problem?  It makes the game nearly impossible to win when you are limited to only one magazine's worth of bullets.  ;)

System info:
Win 98SE
MAME v.062
AMD XP-1800 processor

I think the area51 driver was modded for mame play. Using the mouse you can reload if the cursor is at the edge of the screen.  There isn't an optional "reload" button so I'm guessing this was modded to make it playable to most users.

Unfortunately this also means that lightgun users will have to aim at the exact edge of the screen to reload.  :(

You mean you can't map reload to a button?

Thanks for the info.  That explains a lot.  Hmmm...  I wonder if I could figure out how to modify the code...  Time to go download the source!
