Question about Happ's heavy joystick springs
« on: April 03, 2005, 09:02:19 am »
Can someone tell me whether the heavy springs available for the Happ Competition joysticks (ref: 95-1309-01) also work with the Super joysticks?

Thanks in advance.

At first blush (before taking a Super apart), I would guess not nicely..

Having said that, I have a spare HD spring and a Super that's not doing anything ... if I get a chance tonight, I'll take the Super apart and try to install the spring.

Cheers.

Well ... about all I can say is that the Hd spring does fit inside the Super. It is longer than a Super spring and I can't say that I noticed any improvement like you do with the Ultimates or Comps.

Thanks for your reply.

That's a shame. The Super's spring feels a bit weak for my taste. I guess I'll have to see if I can buy a stronger spring locally.

yeah, those springs aren't anything special.  some people just take out their old spring and pull it longer, and then put it back in,  but you could probably find the same hd spring at the hardware store, if you look.

I've just had another look at Happ's site and notice you can buy springs for the perfect 360 joystick separately (ref: 50-0342-00).

I'm wondering whether these might work with the Super joysticks, and perhaps give a heavier feel than the competition heavy springs.

Can anyone verify this.

Thanks in advance.

Bob Roberts sells the springes individually, as well.

edit:  I think he sells the P360 heavy springs, don't know about for Comp. or Super.

Well, unfortunately I've had no luck with local hardware stores. So I think I'll just buy a few from Happ on a speculative basis just to try out.
