jamma pcb voltage and current
« on: April 04, 2005, 02:22:01 am »
hi, i was wondering if anyone knows how much current/voltage a jamma board draws? i'm sure it's variable from game to game, but how about an avg. approximation?

i couldn't find this in any game manuals.

thanks.

They all use the same switching power supplies, that provide +5, +12 and -5 volts. The switchers run on 120 volts AC like everything else in your house.

I have a feeling that isn't what you are looking for, so it might be better if you tell us what you are looking to DO with said information.

i need to run a load on my psu since my monitor is jacked through it. ken layton aleady gave me some advice on the resistors i should use. i was just curious on how close those load resistors would come to the pcb load.

Well what make of PSU are you using anyway?
While the voltage remains the same - some of them have (slight) Amp rating differences.

Pcbs vary wildly, you will use the same power supply for a teeny tiny 5" square board as you will for a gigantor stack of 3 boards that are each like 16"x24".

The resistor values I specified will load the power supply to a 5 ampere load.
