Car stereo trick

when i was an apprentice, we installed a kill switch in the cigarette lighter of a car. ive forgotten how it went but obvioulsy if the lighter was pushed in it would be on or off. the circuit through the lighter would be on but i think it would be preferable to have the reverse and it could be we installed a relay on the lighter to do that. i like the stereo idea though. sounds like it would end up being a bit of a hassle to set up though. how much are car immobilisers in the US? why not install one of those? cheaper than an alarm...

oh, and one more trick which my dad did with his car. he wired the car horn to the door switch and and another switch to turn it off under the bonnet, which he left unlatched for access.

ChadTower:

Lojack is sure as hell not $50.  You're talking a two way GPS unit and third party service to track it if activated.
