How do get rid of the sttutter on Asteroid ? After you die, the game slows down and when the new ship appears, it goes FAST and then back to normal. I know it was not like this in the true Asteroid. Sometimes when an asteroid is coming right in the path of new ship appearring, you will get killed, cause once ship appeared, it goes FAST (even your ship goes fast, even the firing). Before you can even say cheese, bang, your DEAD

It seems to me that the last several releases of mame do not run asteroids nearly as fast as older versions.  I used to play asteroids on a P166.  My XP1700 only gives me arouns 107% when speed throttle is turned off.  Ms Pac goes up to 193%, and if memory serves, I used to get much higher than that with my k6-2 400.

hit F11 and see what the frameskip is doing.  I bet it is jumping all around.

I have 1.9ghz CPU. I doubt it that its my CPU. I have to take a look at the frameskip and see if its jumping. I do remember that since the Discreet Emulatio of the sounds been added, thats when it sttutters, but only when a new ship comes, or a new board comes. Otherwise, the game plays wiht no stutter, just whne those 2 occurs.
