Happ Perfect 360 + PS and DC guts
« on: October 15, 2002, 05:48:33 pm »
I'm trying to wire a Happ Perfect 360 joystick to PS and DC guts.  Could anyone give me any tips on how to use a multimeter to find the +5v on the boards?  THe only thing I Know how to do with a multimeter is check for connectivitiy.

The Happ Perfect 360 joysticks have 1ground, up, down, left, right, and +5v contacts.  I Know how to wire all but the +5v.

Please help.

Hey metalslug,

How a friend of mine did it for PSX that's pretty safe was:

Looking at the controller's plug find the VCC +5V hole:

http://www.gamesx.com/controldata/psxcont/psxcont.htm

Jam one end of the voltimeter in that. At the other end of the PSX cable where it splits up and the wires make contact with the PCB, touch each of those contacts with the other end of the meter. When you close the circuit you found the contact for the P360.

Worked like a charm!!  Thanks a lot.

Now all I need is a schematic of the DC controller interface ;).

Anyone know where I can find any schematics on a DC controller port?  I'm still having problems locating the +5v.  I don't want to do the trial and error method because I heard that DC controller ports burn out pretty easily if wired incorrectly.

Hey metalslug, that's cool that the PSX one worked out.

You may want to check out http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/dreamcast/game/22940.html which has some info on putting a P360 onto a DC controller.

Edit: URL changed for gamefaqs link, it's the Arcade Stick Hacking article.
