Movie Screen Saver
« on: January 07, 2005, 03:40:59 pm »
Maybe i'm just confused, we'll see as to the responce I get here.

I have downloaded many videos of the attract modes of mame.  I used a bittorrent file from Darren's Web I believe.  My cab uses Win XP with 500 cel processor and 256 meg of ram.  For MAME, I use MAME32FX.  I have tried looking on the web for a screensaver that plays movies.  I found one you have to pay like 40 bucks for.  I tried the trial, but it could not play the videos because it could not decode the movie files.  I know some frontends can play them, but I really don't use a front end.  Does anyone know of a screensaver you can download (preferably freeware) that can play these videos at random?  Thanks for you time.

Chris

Hey, I was able to find what I needed.  If anyone else is in the same situation as I was, here is what I did.  I was able to get a "Power Toy" for Win XP called Video Screensaver. It's a plug-In for Windows Media Player 9 (and only 9)

Here is the link http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=88f4de76-1e35-45ca-a574-26e36a73f0f8&displaylang=en

Then once installed, all you have to do is go into media player and select the video directory you want to use, and in the screensaver you just select play all files.  It works like a champ.  Hope this helps someone.

Take Care,

Chris

Now I have to work on creating those files myself, lol.
