help! optipac not working

i just got my optipac yesterday and i wired it up to my ipac and my new oscar pro spinner, but nothing is happening, i am using a 9pin to usb adapter cable as my mac doesnt have a 9pin serial port, but ht ecable is showing up on the bus fine, but it shows nothing is connected to it

has anyone used the optipac on the mac?
