new Mekaw 0.65b now cabinet friendly!!!
« on: December 10, 2003, 11:40:41 pm »
The author of Mekaw has kindly now added support for us Arcade Cabinet freaks and enabled a switch in the meka.inp file to make the emulator exit with the escape key.  ;D  Change file quote:
Quote
- Added "cabinet_mode" setting in MEKA.INP, to invert ESCAPE and F10 keys.
Arcade/emulation cabinet owners often have ESCAPE mapped to a key they
want to use to quit. This feature is a quick addition until full key
    redefinition is supported.

You can get the latest mekaw v0.65b from the meka website here: http://www.smspower.org/meka/

The easiest way to configure the setting is to use the mekawconfigurator found here:  http://www.smspower.org/maxim/smschecker/mekaconfigurator.htm

Thanks heaps to Zapper for informing me of the new version.

I'll make a version available on my website which already has the config files modified (for those that have trouble doing it themselves).  It should be available in a few hours.

I have a 15Khz arcade monitor and AVGA card.
When I used Stuzza'a version of Mekaw it wouldent go full screen which was a pain , instead flashing back to the GUI with the game in a wee box in the corner.

Finally figured out how to fix it so it boots into full screen flicker free .

You need to edit the Meka.blt file and change the default resolutions to either 321x240 or 256x240 (these are AVGA resolutions for the video card)
For my setup it was the [Smooth : win] section.

Voila!!! flicker free game play just like GensFE.
