« on: January 04, 2005, 01:07:25 pm »
I got a friend who asked me what would probibly be the best way to transfer all his files from his Desktop PC to a brand new laptop he just bought....

should he just burn them all to CD then copy them over

Not directly, unless you've got a crossover cable.  Otherwise you need a hub or switch.

If he has acess to a firewire drive it would be a lot faster than burning to a cd.

I'd deffinitly go with the network cable...  Whether it be a crossover cable or a router setup it will give you the least hassle.  Plus, if you do it right, it's a "SET IT AND FORGET IT" way of doing things!
If there's bees in the trap I'm catching em
By the thorax and abdomen
And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again
In my land of pretend
I use bees as a mf'n pen
