Check out my images and new artwork at http://www.leafstation.com/ms2intro.html

Drop me a line when you can and let me know what you think.

Wow, very nice indeed.  Quick question, how did you get that fade-in/fade-out in Flash, are you using Flash 5 or Flash MX?
Also, how much did that whole set-up run you?  That sony TV looks freakin huuuge!  Very very nice finish!  Do you use Kinkos to print up your control panel overlays and marquees?  Maybe one day I'll make a cab from scratch, some day.... -__-

Hey PhantomPower whats up? Looks really nice! What did you do with your old MAME machine? Or did you change it around into this one? I finally got around to editing and printing the marquee (you sent me) and it looks REALLY nice. I'll try to get pics of it up. I have yet to get the side art and CPO done.........someday.. lol

Hi all,

Let me try and answer the questions asked...

1.  I used Flash MX for the intro and the fade effects were tweens between images with no brightness and full brightness.

2.  The whole setup did not cost too much for me.  I only needed to buy the controls, wood, and artwork.  I already had the TV and computer.  I probably spent $500 total.

3.  I DID use Kinkos again to print my artwork.  I live in a place now where there are NO good local options.  I used Kinkos web service, sent them a CD with my art, and the mailed me the artwork via FedEx.  The price was almost half what I would have had to pay locally.  On my last cabinet, I paid a total of $50 for the art.  With this one, I paid $65 (which makes since with the new control panel being that much bigger than the first).

4.  For paint, I just used a latex-based interior semi-gloss black and rolled it on.  I rolled one coat of primer, and two coats of black.  This is what I did on both cabinets and the results came out great.

5.  I sold my old MAME machine without the TV and computer for $525 to a friend in Denver (just before I moved).  This new cabinet is completely from scratch.

Again, thanks for the very kind words.  I just love this hobby and love sharing ideas with people here.

Thanks again,
Chuck

HI Chuck,

Long story short, my arcade cabinet is in the designated room and I'm not planning on removing it out of there unless I'm moving.

Spray Painting is out of the questions since I would probably endup with spray paint on the walls and floor.

I'm curious on what type of Roller did you use to roll the paint on? can you give millimeter size of the roller and maybe brand names of roller and paint?  I'll be painting my cab in the near future and I would like to use a roller as well to paint.

I wish I could remember the roller details.  I am sorry.  I just went on the premise that [usually] more expensive is better.

Hey...thanks.  The idea behind making the artwork available is the whole premise around this board.  We all share ideas with each other.  If someone can use what I did to make their own, then that is the ultimate goal.

I am glad you could use the art.  Let me know if I can answer any questions for you.

Chuck

P.S.  mamestation III might be a bit off...since the sale of my former cabinet was the motivation.

One question: what program can I use to look at your plans? I was hoping I don't have to go buy AutoCAD to check it out.. Thanks!

Here is the link to a free AutoCad viewer. http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/index/0,,837403-123112,00.html

Also, Adobe Illustrator will let you view AutoCad files.

All,

Am bouncing a couple ideas to add Dreamcast capabilities to this cabinet, and prefer not to build a second CP.

Any suggestions will be most welcome.

Chuck

P.S. Snaaake, before you say it won't work, my console control panel has both Playstation and Dreamcast sticks switching using Molex Quick Disconnects and it works like a dream.  I am not sure if your problems were with the switching device, but, after a couple tries, I went with the manual switching and my effort paid off.

HOW?

Is it 25 pin printer switch box?
You wanna confirm with the actual picture of the box.I might just go back rewire my newer panel like that.I sold the one with the art that was cloned from your art.I wasn't happy about the scratch so i got rid off it..

Anyways,I am expecting a pic or two of your manual switch box.REMEMBER EVERYONE,there was no way for me to check on the swich box it self because I dont have any printer that has 25 pin.Only got USB so there is no way to know the fact that the box it self might have been $hit.Who knows :-\.
