That's right the next version of lazarus will have 3d cab support courtesy of )p('s brand new plugin!!!

This has been in the works for some time now, but limitations of how vb and other languages handle active x plugins have had us stumped. Basically, all active x plugins wrangle the keypresses, so a fe can't detect input while the plugin is running.  Quite by accident we ran into a solution that should work on all languages that support active x.  So far, save a few bugs, I have been able to integrate it perfectly into lazarus.    :)  I am documenting the process and I shall post my findings once we are finished.

Oh and the viewer supports real video previews on the monitor surface and a background image, which I will use to make the plugin seem transparent, and thus gettting rid of the black box behind the cab.

I hope you guys enjoy this when it's done, because me and )p( have lost some major sleep over it.  :)

Some More details...

-The plugin will center the cab automatically and you can study it with the mouse by dragging on it
You can send the plugin a number of options:
-Yuo can load a model, duh  ;)
-You can rotate at different speeds
-You can load and replace the marquee and screenshot with different bitmaps on the model
-You can display a rm video on the screenshot texture
-You can set the x,y,z position of the model
-You can set the x,y,z rotation of the model
-You can set the x,y,z scale of the model
-You can set the field of view of the camera
-You can load and display a background image

For who has not seen it yet...this is how it looks in the online version of the viewer:
