I was never meant to own an HP LaserJet 2200d. First one that I got off of eBay, UPS decided to ram it with a forklift before giving it to me. This second one worked fine until we moved.
Here's the story behind it. We used a moving company (I'm not lugging a 25" arcade machine, 55" widescreen/31"/27" TV's and a slot machine across the state) when my wife and I moved to Rockville from Frederick, MD. I took all of my computer equipment in my car, but couldn't fit the printer, so I let them take it instead. For some reason, when they were bringing everything in, one of the guys decided to use a standard floor dolly (four boards and four wheels) to bring it in. Ok, that would have been fine, except that he put the printer on top of three boxes instead of by itself on the dolly. Anyone familiar with how heavy an office quality LaserJet is can probably see what happens next. When he gets to the front door, the dolly gets caught on the doorjam. So he proceeds to back up and try to ram it over the doorjam. Doorjam wins. Fatality.
I saw the whole thing and it was rather impressive. The printer immediately went flying to the concrete from a height of around 4-5 feet. I will give the guy credit though, he tried to stop the printer from hitting the ground (as evidenced by the blood splatter resulting from a three inch deep cut to his hand). Good thing that we paid the zero deductible insurance and I was able to replace it with a nice new Color LaserJet 2550n.
Anyway, I am trying to clear out some room to put in a set of shelves for my PCB's and this thing is taking up space. I will guarantee that this thing will not work as several little pieces of glass and plastic remained on the sidewalk afterwards. I have looked at the printer and there is the possibility that the paper tray, toner cartridge and duplexer may be intact and salvageable, but I will not be held responsible if they are not and cause damage to a second printer.
Several of the outer covers have come off or broken off (included), but the printer is "complete" as far as the internals. It may be possible to repair it, but I wouldn't count on it. It is free of blood.
This is free to anyone who wants it, but you have to be able to pick it up in Rockville, MD around the Montrose Rd./Rockville Pike intersection.
