Custom logo on a trackball
« on: September 16, 2002, 10:34:04 pm »

I had my logo put on a cue ball (you could get a MAME logo).  Any 2 1/4" billiard ball can replace an original Happ 2 1/4" trackball.  I got this cue ball printed at http://www.bodacorp.com/

Note: The cue ball is off-white (like a typical cue ball) and the black graphic is more charcoal than black, but I think it came out OK (color graphics can also be printed).  To me, billiard balls appear to spin the same as the original trackballs (no better or worse).

I wonder how it will hold up?
Oh, the memories of living on pizza subs and Dr Pepper...

I hope it holds up; they say:

..that won't wear off!!!

Enjoy fully playable, top-of-the-line
billiard balls with YOUR custom image.

Ball will "wear" before your image.

I get the impression that billiard balls are more durable than standard trackballs.  However, can the logo hold up?  Time will tell.

If it's printed in the same process that letters are printed on a pool ball then it should last for years to come.  Whens the last time you saw an 8-ball with the '8' rubbed off?

That's true, but how many 8 balls would be subject to sweaty paws in the same way that a trackball is?

Having said that, I don't know if the contact of a hot sweaty hand will be any better/worse than having the ball gliding up and down a pool table.

SUPER COOL!

Can they do colors?

An eyeball would be cool!  Or a nipple... but my wife would get mad at me...

If you do a search, you can find other logo billiard balls that would be cool (NFL, MLB, Harley-Davidson...)

I haven't.  And the white area arounf the 8, that's not printed on, it part of the ball.  There is a white core going throughout the ball.  Cut one in half sometime:)

I'm thinking of putting an 8 ball in, that would look cool.

You might be able to get some interesting trackballs from EPCO.  It looks like they offer: Pearlescent, Sparkle, Transparent, Marbleized, Solid Opaque, Glo, Clear, and Flourescent balls.
