Is it possible to have the music from MAMEWAH continue to play after launching the command-line MAME?

Thanks,
Dan

I recall emulaxian use to do that?   It would be a pretty cool feature in Mamewah.

Not currently possible.  I never really saw the point - most games have their own music...

Also even with the best computer/sound card... you will either quickly run out of system resources or quickly run out of available sound channels if you run both at the same time.

Kinda creepy....  )p( and myself had this discussion online almost 4 years ago.  I was telling him how I froze my fe (then raging dragon) and freed system resources  when a game launched.  If I remember correctly, at one point he never froze his.

yeah still works like a charm here. I always have this feature on. I like the feel it gives of staying in the same environment...espeially when i play late at night on my cab :)

But I mostly play pretty old games. I dont think you want to do this while running killer instinct...it migfht just kill your computer  ;)

the background music in mamewah on my cab is the "arcade ambiance" mp3s, so it wouldn't be too distracting to leave it running, although I'd rather have fast emulation than cool sounds.

Being new to Mamewah, I'm curious how I would set up a music file to play while the Mamewah program is up on the screen??   ???

The simplest way is to edit mamewah.ini, and set:

music_path                  c:\music (or whatever)
enable_music                1
music_volume                100

Thanks for the replies.  The reason I ask is that the arcade cabinet with MAMEWAH and my 80's song collection playing during the menu selection has become the highlight of our rec room.  A lot of times, I just turn on the cabinet just to have the songs play in the background while I'm doing other things (like dancing with my 3mo old daughter while she stares intensely at the marquee).  Most of the time, I'll launch an old-school game with bleeps and blips and thought it would be nice to have the music continue to play.

I'll try to add the option to allow the music to continue in the near future :)
