WTB Shooter game or Pool table
« on: October 16, 2004, 01:32:31 pm »
WANTED:  Entire working system.  Looking for one of those gun games either 1 player or all the way to 4 player.  Looking for a good working one with no issues!  I live in Ft. Bragg, NC.  This will not only be benifiting me but my soldiers as well.  I am looking to spend no more than $500 shipped!  If you dont have one I would be willing to go with a pool table too.  No bigger than 8 ft. and must be slate.  Again not looking to spend more than $600 on that AND must be in PRIME condition, no tears, rips, stuff like that.  THANKS!!

Email me at Red_johnny@yahoo.com

Good luck with that.

Considering shippin is gonna run about $300.00 for a cabinet.  A "shooter" is generally a bigger cabinet and will probably cost more.  A slate pool tablle, heh.  Heavy as hell man.

Check auctions.  However good luck on finding one in pristine condition for that price range.

Ok.  I really dont know much about these things other than I want one.  Should I try a local shop?  I figure there must be local shops that sell and repair but would they have what I want and would it be reasonablly priced?

The Pool table yeah, a local shop would be best.  For an arcade cabinet.  Look around for auctions in the area.

If you walk into an arcade an ask prices you are likely to get $1200.00.  At an auction, you could walk away with the same cabinet for $300.00.

I re-read my post and I sounded like a D!ck.  Sorry about that.  Welcome to the boards.  There is a recent post on here talking about auctions. Check it out.

Your price range may not cut it for a light gun game.  Well, perhaps for a stationary game like my Beast Buster's cabinet.  But I'm sure you and your men woul dbe much happier with a time crisis or area-51 game.  Look to spend between $600 and $1200 for a good time crisis game though, it has a big 50inch monitor.  You might be able to find someone in your area that has one for sale though, Time Crisis isn't the newest shooting game out there, so you might be able to find a playable game locally around $600 - $800... E-bay had a couple for auction a couple days ago.

I myself would love to have a Time Crisis or similliar game just like you and your men.  I restored a 3 gun Beast busters that I just might trade for one too.  I'm an avid shooter/hunter/collector and it's great going to the local fun-center with my 5 year old and play time crisis with him (he's just starting to shoot BB's and loves it as much as I do <grin>)

Check around your local area, you should be able to find an arcade game rental agency too.  You could rent a time crisis for a while and then trade it in for another shooter game.  That might be the best way to go for you, no need to worry about repairs if something happens....

to AmericanDemon, your ok and you did not sound bad in any way. I did look up on ebay and I think that is my best shot but shipping is going to be the killer there.  I will look for time crisis to see what I can get.  Where would I look for an auction?  I already looked today at local shops and no-one sells them.  Any other place other than ebay to get them?

Thanks for the link but I was hopeing to have one on the way soon or have one by then.  I am about to deploy back to Iraq and this will be something for me and the soldiers to do on the weekends and weekdays when we have nothing to do.  I am trying to build morale before we get over there as morale is really low in my unit right now.  So hopefully with about $500 or so I can get them a shooter game so they can take out their frustrations.

I can fully understand that, as my wife is currently serving in Afghanistan.  Its hard enough on me, but I know its harder on her.

I would suggest looking up Amusement retailers.  People who have games sitting at  gas stations, bowling alleys, arcades.  They may have exactly what you are looking for and it wont cost 500 bucks.  Just a short lease would work out.  Tell them the situation and tell them its a tax write off.  ;)    It'd be true if they donate.  hehehehe.

Where are you located? If local, I am considering selling my Point Blank 2 machine which is about 75% refinished in your price range. I I just need to finish relaminating one side and some tmoulding. But, I am  just lacking the motivation to complete it when I have a couple of other projects going. It sports a nice 25" WG monitor and is Jamma with the Happs Guns and Holsters.

Well I emailed about 10 companies about it and I should start getting some answears tomorrow.  I know what is killing me is the shipping.  I found one called "Beast Busters 2nd Nightmare" for about $700 shipped.  Anyone know how good this game is?

Beast Buster's 2 is pretty good, it's a stationary gun game though, so you don't actually take the gun out of a holster and fire, the UZI's stay attached to the game and you just move the guns.  I have a 3 player original Beast Buster's game and I love it, my 5 year old loves it too :-)

For me, I think I'd rather have a Time Crisis type game, where I actually hold the gun in my hand to shoot.  It's more like the live fire sims that I use, but my 5 year old is still too young for, by quite a few years.

What are some other good shooter games such as time crisis that might be cheap.  BTW saw one on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=13716&item=6124076699&rd=1
Its $950 bucks though.   I like games like Virta cop 2 or LETHAL ENFORCER II ANYTHING like that.  I saw one that I know is out of my range and its a police game that moves with your actions  IE you lean to left screen leans...not monitor.  Its pretty cool.

The guy selling that time crisis is up by my way, about 40 miles West.   By the look of the other games in those pictures, he has a few shooting games.  You might want to send him a message.  It's about a 12 hour drive up to Rhode Island from where you are, if you're traveling the speed limit I would say.  You could grab a truck from the motor pool and make the drive in a weekend if you really wanted to I guess.  It's a bit chilly up here, so don't just wear a tee-shirt ;-)

Beast Buster's 2 is a good game, but it is HEAVY if it's anything like the first game.

Area-51 is a pretty good game, time crisis 2 is good as well (but really big).

big Buck hunter is pretty cool too, smaller footprint too.  But, you're not shooting bad guys, just hunting WhiteTail deer.  Might be a better diversion for your men, to get their minds off of what's going on in real life?  Big Buck Hunter is a newer game too, might be easier to find.

the game is called police 911 (or police 24/7 depending on where you are). http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?letter=&game_id=9066
it is a really neat game with a sensor that tracks the movement of your head and translates that in-game.  it is also available on the playstation 2 and is compatible with the konami (non-namco guncon) gun and also works with particular web cams for head tracking.  may be compatible with eye toy as well, but i havent heard about that..
played it at a movie theater in boston and my legs were sore for a week from squatting and moving all over the place..

I know its not quite the same as a real cabinet but you could just get a 36" TV, a next gen console, a couple of lightguns and several lightgun games that are VERY close to the arcades.  Probably ps2 has the most lighgun games I think... but someone in the console forums would probably have more information.
