UPDATED:12-04-04 - Rombotron/Old Skool: Major Milestone
« on: September 20, 2004, 10:09:59 pm »
My coworker and I have finally decided to build a couple of MAME cabs. We figured we could build two for about the same amount of work as doing one if we did them at the same time. My cab theme is a knock-off of Robotron and Jon's is his own design (Old Skool). Right now we are getting all of the parts together and have most of the artwork in process. Hopefully we will have the MDF this week and will be able to start cutting panels.

VERY cool skins! I absolutely LOVE the OLD SKOOL marquee and skin!!! And obviously the Rombotron marquee and matching skin are killer, but that does without saying....

Cab is looking great!  I agree on the mamewah skins, very well done.  Any chance of releasing the skins when your done?

Thanks, I really like the primary colors. One weird thing that is happening though is the paper is starting to get slightly wavy. Not sure why. I may end up having to put some light tack spray on the MDF to keep the paper laying flat.

Finished both top sections. Here's the latest shots of the cabinets after a day's work this Saturday...

Next weekend should be the last day of major construction (Laminating the top sections). After that we will probably move Jon's cab to his house and we will finish them seperately.
