Ultimarc (I-PAC etc) news
« on: May 27, 2002, 01:06:56 pm »
We just tweaked a few things:
We got some really good rates from Airborne Express so now send everything by Airborne. No more air mail delays..
A couple of joysticks and pushbuttons have reduced prices as we have just taken a huge delivery!
So many people ask me about which video card to use with the J-PAC, that we decided to sell one. It's the Trident Blade T64, which is the 32Mb version of the Blade 3D. The "Saka" Windows drivers for the Blade 3D work with this card, having done a mod so that it recognises the new chip. The modified driver can be downloaded from our site.

How does the T64 perform with 3D games?   4 times the memory should help, but the older Trident cards preformed slower than simular 8MB cards in 3D.

I think I'll post your update as news.

I'm not sure whether 3D performance is relevant for MAME. Does MAME use any 3D API functionality of video cards?
In normal PC gaming terms, the Trident card is not a high-end card, but for MAME it should perform well, and also has the arcade monitor Windows capability.

As for the 3d stuff.  Thats what is used on the HWStretching in mame (not the 3d... but part of the advanced apis... so many older video cards can't use the hwstretching).

So try it quickly if you could... I would love to hear if it can keep up....

Also, could you try a few of the 3d emulators.  Like Zinc and maybe Project64.  This will be the real test.  But it will probably fail (not designed for that).
