New NVidia drivers allow for monitor rotation!

They only mention for flatscreen TV's but I bet it's a generic solution.  Worth taking a look at it if you have a vertical monitor layout

NVIDIA released new drivers for their GeForce cards this morning, claiming a 25% increase in performance. There are also a bunch of other new features that come along with them.

Looking at that wording "flat panel displays" I would guess they mean TFT screens.

Many TFT screens pivot to allow you to work in portrait mode. Usually you have to buy some seperate software that rotates the windows desktop to fit the pivoted screen.

I suspect that this feature won't work (either too well, or at all) on non-TFT screens.

I wonder when it will be available for win98?  All I see is for XP/2000.

yeah it works...tried it but it is not as flexible as portrait software...
it is also a bit slow comparable to portrait software...

you can enable it with some nvidia tweak programs, i used nvhardpage..

I've just installed these drivers under XP Pro, and now when I goto Display Properties -> Settings -> Advanced -> GeForce 3, I get a DLL error and Windows wants to send an error report

Edit - Fixed it. If it happens to you, simply completely uninstall the drivers from Add/Remove Programs and reinstall them.

The pull out menu thingy is quite smart and you can get access to loads of extra features.

I had a little play with the rotate option, and it seems OK. Had to get used to moving the mouse at 90° as well

wow!!! this new driver rocks for screen rotation...
in previous drivers you could enable it but it was slow...with this new driver it looks like eveythings is as fast as not rotated!!!

now if they would release a version for win9x then I could use it on my can...

Hey... I was going to post this!    Glad someone else stumbled upon this last nite...

I downloaded and installed over, and ran 3dMark2001, and it simply closed about 3/4th of the way through.  I will have to revert to VGA drivers, uninstall and reinstall.  

(I have a GeForce2 GTS VisionTek... a great deal at $45, but now VT is gone as a company, nice to see nVidia keeping their drivers updated though)
