advancemame help
« on: June 30, 2004, 11:31:17 pm »
I have installed gentoo linux 2.6.5
I have installed advancemame
when i #advcfg i get:
No vidio driver is able to program your video board
Ensure to use the 'device_video_output auto' option
ensure to have a Frame Buffer driver (other than VESA) in your linux Kernel
I am using a Matrox G400 video card
In my kernel i have:
  • Support for frame buffer devices
  • Matrox acceleration
  • Millennium I/II support
  • G100/G200/G400/G450/G550 support

I chose Gentoo because I thought it contained what I needed for Advancemame...does anyone know what I'm missing?

thanks

I havent used the linux version of AdvanceMame, but I am running the windows version.

There is a file called svgawin.exe that loads a dll in when you run it that stops this error message from coming up. In the docs diirectory of advancemame, or on their website, there is information about this.

There is also a viideo lib driver for Linux that it sounds very much like you need to install.

The file to read is the advdev.txt file... it quickly mentions 1.2.1 svgalib - Generate SVGA video (Linux) :)

I hope that helps you. It should :)

Thanks but I think I need to solve my other problem first: I don't think I recompiled the kernel correctly after I found out I need the frame buffer support.  So I will need to figure that out first before trying advcfg again.  Sorry for the wasted post. :-[
