| what kind of dremel bit for t-molding |

Hi All: I would like to install t-molding on the control panel and cabinet. I already got a dremel tool from Home Depot, but I don't have the right bit to route the narrow slot. I checked t-molding.com, they do have that tool bit, but it costs $31 + S&H (which I think is a little too much... I can buy 2 competition sticks + buttons for that $$) Can anyone tell me what is the name of that bit, or what width is that narrow slot ?? So that I can try look for it in local hardware store ?? (or is it the that expensive everywhere else ??) Thank you for all your help/advise !!!!! ;D |

Okay first of all, if you have access to a router, I would use that instead of a dremel, simply because it will be much easier to control. If you insist on using a dremel, at least make sure you use a router attachment for it. Okay for the bit, you need a 1/16" slot cutting bit. I just did this procedure (but with a router) a few weeks ago. It's super easy. Took 2 minutes. Yes, they are expensive. My buddy happened to have the exact bit I needed so I didn't have to purchase. But, it will run you probably $20-30 unfortunately. Here is a website with a picture of what a slot cutting bit looks like: http://www.woodsmithstore.com/slot.html They are a little cheaper to order there, but they are not the right size. Get a 1/16" one. Hope this helps. Jakobud |

Thanx, Jakobud... I also saw from another message... some guy is using Carbide Cutter/Shaping Wheel for the job... and its a Dremel part 542.... Cost about $15.... I'll see if I can get it anywhere local.... I do not have a router, but I do have a router attachment for my dremel, so, I will have to stick to that for now... Thanks again !!!! ;D ;D ;D |

welllll...henry...there is an EASIER way...you been to my house right...in case you did not notice.....my dual joystick are the white cabinet uses somethin called BATTEN STRIPS...still not sure if thats what you call it...its very easy....all you gotta do is get 2 strips for the whole cabinet or 1 strip for control panel.it only cost $2 a piece..i got them from ACE hardware...and BLACK tacks cost like a BUCk....so total cost $3 and all you need is a HAMMER...its looks very very similer to t-molding...OR THERE IS ANOTHER "EVIL" WAY..this might sound stupid but you can go to home depot and get a router then once you done you can go back and get a refund :P...funny but works...i did it when i did not have a saw...good luck....the batten stirips are usually 3/4 and mostly BLACK...from ACE hardware.. |
