I considered purchasing some gear for resale, but I'm concerned about shipping costs. Is there ever a circumstance where shipping is over $50?

I have ordered from them in the past.  My order consisted of

2000 Microswitches
1000 Small Square Buttons
240 Coin Mechs w/ coin switch

It arrived in two boxes both weighing over 70 lbs each.  The shipping was $799.

They used UPS Worldwide express.  The person I dealt with was very responsive and over all I was satisfied with the order, but you really have to make some large quantity orders to offset the shipping charges from Hong Kong.

Jon Lee, I've been on your site a few times but what always scares me away is your minimum order quantity requirements. Most of us here are building two or three arcade cabinets at the most and just don't have the use for 1000 pieces of just one style of pushbutton. Are you willing to sell buttons in lower quantities ? If someone needs say 20 pink momentary pushbuttons and 10 blue microswitch pushbuttons would you ship an order like that ? I'm sure people here would order from you if they could mix and match different styles and colors of buttons instead of having to buy like 1000 pieces of the same exact button. I realize that you cannot make a huge profit just by  selling like 20 or 30 pushbuttons but I'm sure it would lead to the sale of other products on your site like joysticks,trackballs ect..    Just wondering if you're willing to ship smaller orders ?  If you are then I'm sure that you'll get more business from people on this site.

I shipped about 100 lbs. of Nintendo equipment from California to Australia via UPS and I only ended up paying $150 for s/h. I can't understand why 140 lbs = $800. There have got to be cheaper shipping methods.

I actually calculated the weight, each box weighed 100 lbs each.  They had those over 70 lbs stickers on them, so that is why I said each box weighed over 70 lbs.  Did you send your package Worldwide Express?  Coinopexpress didn't give me any other alternative at the time I placed my shipment, but I do have to say, the packages arrived within just a few days and made it through customs without a hitch.  So while I would have preferred cheaper shipping, it did get here really fast.

Also, you can have the mixed colors in one carton.

Does that meen, we could order one carton of 80 Dome Illuminated Pushbuttons in all 5 colors for a pop 'n music controler?  If I've done my math correctly, that would be just short of 9 full sets of buttons comming in at arround $50 per set + s&h divided by 9, then the extra can be ordered at the higher price some of the other companies charge.

This sounds like it would be awesome if all things have been taken into account.  I for one would be in and would deffinitely buy a set.

As a matter of fact, this sounds like such a good deal, I'm going to start a new topic in the main forum (i think it should belong there) where more people can see this.

Coinop want $122US
Ebay $50US

Coinopexpress does have a large selection I will give them that. If your in the US these prices would be ok but being in Australia is definately a dis advantage.

I posted this in another thread, but you likely missed it.  So I'm reposting here.

I would like to say that I think your companies prices are great.  However, they're reflected by the fact that you must buy hundreds, if not thousands of a particular product.  To the typical hobbiest (which 99.9% of us are) it's out of their league.  You're not reaching your target audience.

If you really wanted to reach the majority of us, you should have the parts we wanted here, stateside.  You should be able to fill small orders as well as the occasional large order.

The parts we're looking for are pretty simple: a selection of joysticks, buttons (leaf and microswitch), possibly coin doors, arcade monitors, vinyl (for covering control panels and for cabinet sides).

You start opening your business toward us, and the money will follow.

I am really sorry for this. We also know this clearly, but the minimum order quantity is made by the facotry not our company ourselves.

Like I said, keep inventory here in the states.  You place the orders @ the factory for the equipment, and keep minimum stock on hand here.  That would enable you to sell lower quantities to guys like us.  And still letting you sell mass quantities to the big boys.

Believe me, I'd love to order 2,000 buttons, but the initial price would kill me, and I would have to store the things.

I've asked the other mods about it, and they seem to think it's basically harmless, as long as it's confined to this one thread.  Pretty much because the average guy isn't going to be buying 2,000 buttons anytime soon.  They (and I) are actually pretty amused by it.

I must say the transparent microswitch pushbuttons look very tempting.

However, as others have said, buying a minimum of 1000 is too much of a risk for a private individual. I guess you could sell them on ebay but it would take a long time to shift that quantity.

I have just noticed a really good suplier in Austraila but I haven't purchased yet.

They also seem easy to set up.
