pc engine (turbogafix) in mamewah
« on: April 01, 2004, 05:26:09 am »
hi all,

I’m in the process of setting up mamewah with my other emu's.
got these working-

snes
nes
megadrive/genesis
mastersystem

anybody got any pointers for setting up a pc engine(turbogafix) emu in mamewah.
either magicengine (I’ll register if I know it works)
or hugo.

I’m not too familiar with dos/command line software, so any "idiot proof" help would be appreciated. I’ve searched and found a lot of "rtfm" posts. I have done and am still very unclear about how to get magicengine running without the frontend.

many thanks in advance

nik

I have Magic Engine setup just like I have kawaks setup in mamewah.  I have the rom type set to .lnk and made a shortcut the the emulator's .exe file.  So for that emulator in mamewah only one file shows and when it's selected it opens up the emulator.

Or Howard has also developed some wrappers if you wanna try them out, I've just been too dumb to get them to work right.

btw, dude what's up with the "I&#8217"?

I was just asked by someone how to setup the magic engine w/ mamewah.  I set it up normally, without using .Ink's.  I used version .98.  Here are the settings:

;EMULATOR OPTIONS
Emulator Title = Turbo Graphix
Emulator Executable = G:\Emulators\TurboGraphix\me098-english-demo\pce.exe
Default Options =
Extra Options #1 =
Extra Options #2 =
Show DOS Box = 0
Send ROM Path = True
Use Long Filenames = False
Send ROM Extension = True
DAT Filename =
NMS Filename =
CatVer Filename =
ROM Path = G:\Emulators\TurboGraphix\PCERen109a\PCERen\USA
ROM Extension = PCE

Make sure to set the escape key code in PCE.ini for it to exit on escape.

esc_key_mode=2

Hey TalkingOctopus,
What if you want to play turbo cd games too?  I have Dracula X setup through Daemon Tools to run as a cd in magic engine.  I would like to set up magic engine the way you specified but how would I make mamewah recognize both roms with .pce extension and the Virtual drive I made for my Dracula X?

That is a good question that I don't know the answer to.  I have a copy of Dracula just lying around so if I have some freetime I'll try to find a solution.
