Only WD works because the bottom part has a HOLE ready for you to put the Wheel Encoder into. The rest if the HD I opened did not have this hole. Also some newer WD, did not have this hole,

Just ripped apart 3 old hard drives...old as in 400 MB hard drives and all 3 had the hole on one side and the threaded hole on the other.

I would like a spinner....But does it work w/ the passthrough of an ipac...and can I mount it in a hole made for a 2-way joystick without and tools? ::)

If your MOUSE worked in the PASS THRU, then this will work too. It is a regular serial mouse.

Do you mean a SLOT 9going up/down or is it a regular button/joystick hole? If so, then it will work, but if its a slot up/down, might not, but you can easily make it a button/joystcik hole.
