PLEASE HELP (Problem with my arcade cabinet)

Hello there.
                  Is there anyone who can help me please. I have owned an old 6 button Jamma arcade called a challenger 2 (made by adelphi) for about 10 years now. It was orginally a 3 button, uprgraded to 6 button cabinet and it was very tatty inside indeed.
But it looked good on the outside and everything worked fine and at

Sounds like you just need to replace your JAMMA cable.  If you don't know much about it, just go here:  http://www.therealbobroberts.com/ look for a JAMMA cable and buy the one that fits your need.  If you are still having problems, take a pic of your cable and post here, along with where it connected to.  Should be a cheap fix, around $30 USD.

         Hi there. Thanx for replying.
Here are some images for you to look at.
I think that the pic showing the white connecter thingy is whats causing the problems.
When I moved the wires coming out of the white connector box the monitor flickered on and off.
Does this thing play any part in when the signal is sent from the PCB to the monitor?

Yeah, you need to replace that.  It's called a Molex connector and it's really cheap.  Like about $5 USD here: http://www.therealbobroberts.com/ check under 15 port under .093 connectors.  You might be able to just use your old one and push the wires back into it, but that's up to you.  Also I'd like to say this is really not the correct web site for help on things like this since this is for people who build their own arcade machines, usually running MAME, but hey I own several dedicated systems and I don't mind helping!  Check the newsgroups under arcade machines for more dedicated help.  Also, Bob Roberts can easily tell you what part you need if you can't figure it out from the link I sent you.  Send him the one picture that shows the connector and he'll send you the right one.  Let me know if this helps or if you need anything else.

Actually that looks more like an AMP Mate-N-Lok connector. The connector doesn't look bad, but to properly fix the rats nest you'd need to replace some of the pins. Bob has those seperately, but it's a pretty common connector so you can probably get them locally as well. If you don't mind loosing the quick-disconnect, you could simply cut it out and reconnect everything with butt-splices, you should be able to find them anywhere that sells wiring stuff.  

From the looks of things I wouldn't blame the cat as much as whoever did the conversion. It looks like the extra wires were stripped and shoved into the back of the connector till they touched the pins and completed the circuit. Unfortunately from what I've seen such shoddy work is all to common when keeping a game up and running is all the operator cares about.

Fixing it won't be too hard, assuming you know what was pulled from where, but if not you need to find some sort of wiring diagram for the cabinet. Since it's a JAMMA/JAMMA+ game a wiring diagram shouldn't be to hard to track down.
