Instant restart Outrun
« on: January 26, 2025, 12:52:47 am »
I would like to know if there is a way to restart Outrun (the classic 1986 version) in Mame? I am emulating it on Windows 7 Mame version. Any key combination or something, so if you crash for example, and want to fast restart without waiting for the timer to stop and leave the leaderboard, you don't need to close the game and reopen?

In MAME, "F3" is soft reset and "Shift" + "F3" is hard reset (same thing as exiting the game and restarting) -- either one will do what you want in Outrun.

I mention the "Shift" + "F3" option because a few games like Salamander won't initialize properly from an "F3" soft reset.
