How to play hacked mame / neogeo roms

Hi, Can someone please guide me on how can I play hacked mame / neogeo roms using emulators? I tried hbmame / winkawaks and neoragex different versions but still no luck.
 I want to play kof94 boss remix hack etc. I have the rom but can't see it in games list.
