VGA to component video monitor (NTSC)

Hello,

I am trying to get my video card (GeForce FX5200) to jive with an NEC video monitor.  The video monitor has BNC component connections on the back.  I created a VGA breakout cable using pins 1/6 for R-Y, 2/7 for Y, and pins 3/8 for B-Y.  When I hook the cable up, I get video output but it is split down the center with a mirrored effect on the monitor.  The color is a little off as well.  I am running at 640X480 at 60Hz.  What should I do to remedy this?

Try adjusting picture controls.  If this does not work, it is possible that you are sending the monitor a signal at the wrong refresh rate.  Read the manuals and see which rate it needs.  If it needs 15Khz, you may need an ArcadeVGA card, or to play around with AdvanceMAME.   If it needs 25Khz (EGA), you might be best with a Trident Blade card and advanceMAME, or possibly a scan converter.

Sending too high a refresh rate will DAMAGE the monitor if it is done too long.

The PC 15 pin 'D' connector outputs Red, Green, Blue signals plus Hor and Ver sync pulses all on seperate pins. It sounds like your TV has true composite video inputs as found on the back of US TV sets. While these are frequently color coded RGB they are normally labled Y,Pb/Cb,Pr/Cr and are different to what the PC outputs.

I have never actually tried this so I can't be sure this will really work!
