CART Fury (and other 3DFX games) now works great in MAME
« on: July 31, 2021, 11:45:50 am »
Just a heads up. Some improvements to 3DFX games have recently been made to MAME.  If you were struggling with games like Rush 2049, Golden Tee Fore, NBA Showtime, Big Big Hunter and Gauntlet Legends/Dark Legacy, it might be worth checking them out in 0.234.

Here is footage of CART Fury running on my i7-7700K:

I'll get a quick stutter here and there in the menus but it basically works flawless during a race.

It should per this thread:

I've done it in the past with Rush 2049 on a single computer but haven't tried on the new MAME.

Nice. Don't suppose there's any update on Hydro Thunder working in MAME now...?

SF Rush still needs the overclock to work fullspeed?

No. The overclock is if you want a better frame rate than the original game. With the recent changes it should be easier to achieve the proper performance of the original game.

What kind of horsepower does it take to run Gauntlet Legends 100% now?

Thanks!
I will update my racing setup ASAP. Love to play those games at home :)

Before the changes I was able to play Dark Legacy at 100% on low res. I have an i7-7700K. I'm not sure what the minimum would be though.

I still dream with the day MAME will use GPU hardware acceleration to run those games and also render in higher resolution.
