So here’s where I’m at, worked on the cab a bit yesterday and today. Getting more and more brave with my router. Cut the vents on top (5” long x 3/4”) and a couple at top and bottom of the back, top one doubles as a handle for that panel. Getting carried away I started cutting the speaker vents with a 3/4” bit! Whoops, meant to use 1/2”. So I tried stepping the vents down, 3/4 to 1/2 to 1/4”. Looks like it’s intentional when you look at it straight on.
Then the joysticks, buttons and IPac came.. excited again. Happ joys and buttons, they feel pretty nice but a little large for the Sega layout I want to use. Tweaked it a bit for more spacing.
Went to work on the control panel, got router happy again and rounded all the corners then carved out the control surface. Turned out not bad, couple not good chips but I can fill them also a little too narrow where it meets the cab but I think the T moulding will lined right up with the edge of the cab, making it look intentional
Time to clean up, next to put a slot on the edge of the control panel and start drilling holes then it’s sanding time. This aspen seems to be very fibrey, pops out a little even on the finished surface. See if I can get a nice surface to paint.
