Better than quick disconnects

I read somewhere that, after crimping, one can apply heat to the insulation of the quick disconnect to seal it tight.  I have yet to read this here; is this just a gimmicky product?  Thoughts?

I would think these would make for a very clean looking wiring job, but other than that I don't realy see where this would be a useful trait for what we'd use em for...

It's just heat shrink. overkill in my opinion.

yeah its not like its gonna help keep the wires crimped or stay on better or anything.

One of the nice things about quick disconnects is you can disconnect them..

these look like for people whos stuff goes underwater... if thats true... the end results might be very un - undoable...

bad microswitch and you have a major problem.

I don't know about others... but I really do redo my connections often... (replace buttons.... replace supers for ultimates... but thats because I took my 4 player cab apart a bit ago... and haven't redone it... so to play timepilot or gyrus I have to unscrew a joystick... total time.. 2 minutes)

These clearly seem to be for situations where waterproofing is a requirement. If that's an issue with your cab you probably have other things to worry about, like flood insurance.

Personally I think nylon insulated terminals are utter garbage. I'd much rather use heat shrink and uninsulated terminals. Overkill? Maybe, but my usual wiring projects are NASCAR race cars and I can't afford to have a failure that costs someone a race.

On my arcade projects, I won't go as far as I do on a race harness, but I'd rather solder the bare wires to the switch tabs than use nylon insulated terminals.
