Happ Controls is no more? this saddens me
« on: August 18, 2020, 04:01:02 pm »
Been out of this scene for a over a decade or more...  looking on my shelf I see my old HAPP catalog, about inch and half thick of goodness...

it saddens me to see Happ Controls is no more....  Suzohapp is a shell of what HAPP Controls used to be  :-(

Any other company replace HAPP Controls for arcade parts?

Not at the level you might like. Other than the many companies that do little things, there's nobody with such a deep catalog that I know of.

If you're looking to do custom stuff, I don't have a hard time getting parts. If you want to do restoration, it'll be a lot harder.

I heard through the Grapevine that Suzo/Happ is filing for bankruptcy.

Hopefully that's either a rumor or they can at least reorganize/restructure the company whiile still producing most of their product line.   :dunno

Shipping and minimum order size makes ordering directly from Suzo-Happ a non-starter for many hobbyists, but there are resellers like Divemaster127.

I hope they find a way to stay in business somehow if bankruptcy is true.

We buy a lot of coin-op parts like pool table supplies and dart supplies and such for our route.

Even though they are high priced, it is nice to have so many needed items in one place.  A 30 day same as cash account helps too.

I did find that my "local" microcenter is now carrying many "DIY" arcade parts... good selection of buttons, sticks, electronics and what not...

they're about an hour and half drive away from me, but at least it's something.... prices might be double what I recall them being way back when, but prices do change in 20 years I guess :-)

I prefer just ordering from GroovyGameGear or Ultimarc for that stuff.... or Amazon for that matter for general electronics. I've gotten used to the whole no-browse-and-wait-for-shipping experience over the years as electronics stores have all but disappeared.
