Black Screen VGA to DVI-I on 380x Using CRT EMU
« on: May 20, 2020, 01:56:57 pm »
If there is a better place to post this please let me know or move the topic.

My previous PC has finally died so I was happy to finally upgrade it and the video card. I'm 5 days into troubleshooting and all I've got to show is black screen and I'm finally stuck. I've tried many combinations of settings and adapters(dvi/vga and hdmi/vga). I even stuck my old Radeon in the new pc

I had everything working perfectly with soft15 for years with a old radeon card in the old pc.
I even stuck my old Radeon in the new pc. The 4850 and soft15khz with catalyst 9.2 and 13.9 neither worked. And Quickres

To confirm I have done restarts between every install and uninstall.

Could it be that I am using windows 10? Didnt bump into many posts mentioning win10 issues

The completely black screen is throwing me for a loop though. Any helps would be greatly appreciated.

Pics of the monitor:I tested the monitor with the old Wrestlemania board that is still mounted in the cab. The tube looks Great!

New PC is i7-2600k
Please let me know if I forgot some needed details.

Soft15khz hasn't been maintained in many years. I'm not even sure that Windows 10 existed when Sailorsat stopped work on soft15khz. So it seems unlikely that it would work. It was great for it's time, but CRT_emudriver is much better & current.

You need to go to the Groovymame branch of the forum, which is the natural home for discussing all things to do with CRT_emudriver (and Groovymame, of course). Calamity, the guy that does CRT_emudriver, also does Groovymame (which takes best advantage of CRTEMU's capabilities).

Thanks for the reply.
Initially I tried to use CRT_EMU(stated in title but not in body), but could not get it working. My guess is I am choosing the incorrect monitor. I figured at least properly identifying my monitor would also help the process along. I'll post over there as well.
