  • I want to build my own arcade controls!
For a racing game, Mario Kart DX is surprisingly difficult to navigate with Japanese text. I can get to a race by hitting X on the pad until it starts but the (great many) options are all a mystery. Has anyone found a way to run it with English text?

I know the game is available in English because by son played it at a local arcade. Just not sure if it can run in English on Teknoparrot?

There is a translation project

https://github.com/Harmmmm/MKDX-English-Mod/releases

That's good although I don't understand why it can't be made to work with the American version of the game (which is already in English) but I'll be happy either way.

There has been some really fantastic work from those Teknoparrot guys.

There are some whispers on the Teknoparrot forums that possibility the english version might be part of a Christmas day release.
Time will tell but it would be nice if true.

Well I'm part of the Teknoparrot dev team and there won't be any Christmas day release unless a English dump gets released which has not happened

Because there is no public USA dump of the game firstly, and also they made some rather big changes to the game which is debatable if it's better (You can't select your kart anymore etc, it automatically selects for you)

Teknoparrot supports it privately already

Maybe I'll take my camera to my local arcade to get pics of the English text as a stop gap until the English version is available. There should only be 5 or 6 screens that matter. It's just those questions it asks you while you try to start a race. At least, I think they're questions anyway.

Thank you for all the amazing work you guys do. Teknoparrot is the best thing to happen to home arcade enthusiasts in a very long time. I'm a huge fan!
