PS4 + IPAC 2 issues
« on: August 23, 2019, 03:12:59 pm »
I just build my first arcade Controller using Ipac2 encoder. Everything works fine on pc (after 30 min testing) but on PS4 there are problems. The controller works on PS4 menu normally. I can go left and right, enter and return, but once I start a game my controller either gets signed off (MKX, Injustice 2 or Trials Fusion) or only joystick and enter/return work (Broforce). I can't seem to find a way to configure the games or ps4 to function correctly with my controller. Doesn't PS4 support IPAC or is it firmware thing? I read that it's possible to update the IPAC, but I'm baffled why it works on the menu not on games. Any ideas?

Consoles use proprietary controller protocols to prevent people building third-party controllers without purchase of a very expensive hardware license.

There are adaptors though which should should work as the protocols have been hacked. I have a contact who is an expert on this and I will try to find out more.

Oh wow! I did not know that. I've just assumed that any usb controller would work (which is dumb of me because I use DS4windows when playing PC games with PS4 controller). My original idea was to make the arcade controller for cabinet or bartop but then I decided to make it detachable so I could use it also on PS4 or PC, so I would apreciate any suggestions you have. Though I suppose buying a PS4 fightstick is also an option if alternatives don't work.

The Titan Two adaptor works. But a real PS4 controller is also needed to cheat the protection. The info on these various console adaptors rarely mention that requirement.
