What extra tech would I need if I wanted to build a wireless control panel?

I didn't know about this until a few days ago when Andy replied to another thread, but I think he has you covered:

There are some similar boards (often over-priced) built around the sim community.  In addition you can always get an Arduino variant with built in Bluetooth and roll your own.

If you are plugging your wireless control panel into a PC how about using the guts of an Xbox controller?
