It may be worth noting cabs were painted hundreds a day back in the day to make deadlines, and some are less than others...Just do it and stop the sniviling.

Also worth noting that cabinets were painted using proper tools and set-ups, where as most of us use our garage, rollers, and sand paper.

I would love a proper paint booth, with a good paint gun.

I just used my HF paint gun for the first time this weekend. Pretty happy with the results.

Omg...nice coverage, don't see any runs NAILED IT!...the finish if not done on purpose would be my guess would be low air pressure...When you pull the trigger it should blow out of there  like genie smoke, with your fan as big as possible on a piece like that.

Jen-

Thanks! I didn’t do a lot of lights coats - rather, I did each side until it was covered. Next test, I’m going to do coat by coat and see what happens.

Why is your window lined with chicken wire?  Are you taking "gameroom" design advice from Malenko?

Waco is a strange place full of strange people.  My knowledge of those home renovator people is limited to a Texas Monthly profile and I'm content to leave it at that.

Sweet, I got a Fluance turntable a couple months ago, but haven't used it yet. I am forcing myself to go a build a stand for it before I am allowing myself to use it. It was easily one of the best looking turntables on the market, and hopefully great sounding too.

Nice - I went and bought a Kallax from Ikea, added some hairpin legs, and have an instant record center now. ;)

Here are a couple of paint job pics. I decided to make things harder on myself and I painted the cab after assembly. I cut and painted another speaker panel and I am not sure which one I am going to use. The one that is on the cab now shows more wood grain than the one in the second pic. The sides will be completely covered with art so I stopped painting and sanding when I could run a paper towel over the surface without it snagging on anything. The black surfaces will not be covered with artwork. I wanted the wood grain to show at least a little. That is what my original Defender cab looks like. I think my paint job looks pretty good. It looks better in person. I still have to paint the control panel box. The main cab is done and ready for wiring.

My coin doors should arrive tomorrow. I need to get them installed so I can see how much room I have to mount multiple PCBs.

Beast of a monitor going in there. What kind of paint finish are you using? Like satin, eggshell, etc.

It is a gloss finish. The sides are Rust Oleum Smoke Grey color in the regular white rattle cans. The black parts are Rust Oleum Professional.

The monitor is a 25 Inch CRT mounted horizontally.

I want this cab to look like a Konami 4 player that was released in the early nineties. It will be themed as if it was an original title released in probably 1992 or 1993. The theme is X Men vs The Simpsons. That will probably be the title unless someone can (very likely) come up with something better for me. All of the characters will be done in the style of the Simpsons. My artwork is being professionally handled by Opt2Not.

Yep, I meant it would be cool if you did have an X-Men vs Simpsons game to go with it. Maybe some game designer will see your cab and get inspired to make the thing. I'd love to see that.

The sides and CP top were router templated from an original machine. I will measure the marquee area for you. I will also send you a DXF of the CP top and the side panels. I will verify that the drawings match my actual cab.

Just working on odds and ends right now.

I wired up the isolation transformer. I ran the ground to the coin doors. I pinned a molex connector for the monitor signal cable. I had to rethink my monitor mounting solution. I scavenged a

different 25 inch monitor frame from a source online. It has side flanges for mounting to the sides of the cab. I wired the power supply. I wired a fan to draw air from under the cab.

Not very exciting stuff. I will take some pics eventually.

My multiJAMMA board, my 3 & 4 player condenser board and my 2 to 3 button adapter should be arriving soon. Then I can get to work wiring the Jamma harness.

I am going to test fit the monitor this weekend so I can see where I have room for my JAMMA PCB shelf.

When all of those boards come in I will do a little write up on what they all do.

I figured out what buttons and joysticks I am going to use.

I am going to use Arcadeshop reproduction Wico colored balltop shafts with original Wico bases.

I couldn't readily match button colors with the ball tops with original leaf buttons. I am going to make a compromise and use GGG push buttons with the true leaf switches.
