ARCADE RACING LEGENDS Dreamcast
« on: July 08, 2019, 11:57:45 am »
"Get ready to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the SEGA DREAMCAST"

FYI - There's a Kickstarter coming out (it's already reached it's goal) - a new Dreamcast arcade racer that's going to 'Pay tribute to the classic Arcade vehicles from the mid 80's to the early 2000. Classic games like OUT RUN, CRAZY TAXI, MSR, LE MANS, SEGA RALLY and many more...'

Seems like a neat idea and I hope it turns out well, but I must admit I'm highly dubious about any Kickstarter project after the whole 90's Arcade Racer fiasco.

Honoring the SEGA Arcade Classics, we created a TOP 20 of the best race cars ever and we intend to make all of them playable:

    Crazy Taxy's yellow cadillac
    Out Run's Testarossa
    Sega Rally's Lancia Delta
    Scud Race's Porsche 911
    Daytona USA's muscle cars
    Virtua Racing's  Formula 1

um.....licensing?!

Why is everyone calling this year the 20th anniversary?

The DC was released in 1998 first, in Japan...sure it came out in other regions in 1999, but it's ridiculous to ignore it's original release and claim that this year is it's anniversary.

God! let's hope it's not like 90 arcade ... (it's disgusting to pronounce it) we just need good graphics and good drift ... it's a lot to ask ??

There should be a rule governing links to kickstarter here. I have a good one. If (when) the kickstarter fizzles out, any forum member has the right to kick you in the nuts one time.

hahahaha, nice.

I still hold a shred of hope that 90's Arcade Racer will see release one day, and by gum i'm going to hang onto that shred no matter what anyone says.

It seems like a waste of effort honestly.  If it was going to be released on a modern  console I'd see it, but putting a racer on the dreamcast, a console that most people don't have a wheel for, makes zero sense.  Unless your goal is for nobody to play your game that is.

It's Kickstarter. The goal is to steal your money and make you feel good about being robbed.
